Developer Week NYC 2018 – A Big Hit!

On June 18th – 20th thousands of developers and techies came to the Brooklyn Expo Center for Developer Week NYC 2018. I was able to attend and meet some great engineers and companies and learn the latest about development focused technology.

What is Developer Week?

Developer Week is New York City’s largest developer conference. Over 3,000 Developers, DevOps Pros, and Executives come together to discover and discuss the latest in App Development, DevOps, Dev Management, and FinTech Dev. Events include panels, case studies, breakout sessions, networking mixers, and happy hours.

RPS’s Take:

Developer Week was a big hit this year! It was exciting to see new developments in the latest software and technology for engineers and users. A few companies that stood out included CodeStream – a Slack for engineers, waffle.io – a project management system that tracks GitHub issues and pull requests, and Cloudflare – a service that protects company data using a cache that serves as an intermediary between the server and the user.

TomTom sponsored a Hackathon titled “Tour around the City with Augmented Reality”, which required challengers to create an app that provides key attractions along a city tour. A group of students from Fullstack Academy won the competition with their app, Movie Maker. Movie Maker provides an AR tour with interactive movie references tied to locations throughout the New York City.

For those who attended, what did you think of Developer Week this year? We’d love to hear your thoughts and feedback about the event!
