We are thrilled to announce that in April 2022, Remedy Product Studio opened a Latin American Division out of Medellin, Colombia.
The global nature of our company defines who we are. With teams located across the United States, Europe, and now, Latin America, we provide dedicated product development support to businesses around the world. With the addition of our Latin American team, we gain the ability to staff teams in new markets with full US time zone overlap and now have incredibly skilled engineers, UX/UI designers, product managers, and more, in almost every time zone in the world.
One of those engineers, Eric de Oliveira Souza, based out of Belo Horizonte, Brazil shares the impact he thinks the new team can have on the product development process for our partners, “By combining hard work with skill, I firmly believe that we, as a team, can get any project done effectively – by maintaining good task management and always improving our code, by staying updated on recent tech.”
Arturo Salgado, a backend developer on the team, agreed and shared that with his comprehensive software background and his teammates’ similar experiences, he believes their strengths lie in their ability to handle complex projects and tasks in the product strategy process. “We love technical challenges, but beyond that we strive to actively recommend the best approaches to meet specific business goals.”
Remedy initially planned to launch the division in Q4 2022, but after discovering a great ecosystem of engineering talent, we kicked off as soon as we could. During the exploratory phase, Remedy Director of Engineering, Sergey Kuzmich, put all candidates through intense testing and identified strong talent early that we simply couldn’t wait to bring on.
Oleg Krook, Remedy co-founder and CEO, shared that he was very impressed with the excellent communication skills of the newest team members, all of whom speak both English and Spanish or Portuguese fluently. He was also delighted with the amount of additional professional education that many of the candidates have received through courses and certification programs.
“A successful candidate not only passes our technical bar and has the necessary skills, but they also share our organization's values,” Krook reflected on the hiring process. “They need to be product-focused and care more about the products they are building than the technologies they build them with. Sometimes a project requires our engineers to learn and master new tools, so they need to understand that the right tools to do the job may not be the ones they are most experienced with.”
Over the past few months, we’ve assembled a team of senior engineers and product managers in Colombia, El Salvador, Brazil, and Mexico. We are actively hiring and continuing to expand throughout the region.
In addition to the great engineering talent we’ve uncovered, we’re excited about our growing Latin American department of Product Managers. Our newest addition is Isabel Cardosa, a Product Manager based out of São Paulo, Brazil. “She is highly qualified, devoted, and well-organized,” Anna Korzhenevska, Principal Product Manager at Remedy, said about Isabel. “Her creative approach makes the most difficult things look easy and clear. Having Isabel in the same time zone has been very beneficial. We’ve been able to set up a highly effective communication process and speed up the research phase by creating a shorter feedback loop.”
Wave Neuroscience and Halter Ranch, two of our dedicated partners based on the West Coast, previously worked with our New York and European teams. With our new location, they now have around the clock access to Remedy teams and our fast staffing options. Wave Neuro takes full advantage of the new time zone options by working with a hybrid team consisting of engineers based both in Europe and in Latin America. As a result, we see higher productivity and faster project timelines.
“Working with an all remote team in different countries and time zones can seem daunting, but the Remedy team has been fantastic with communication and diligent about organizing the project,” said Kelly Asuncion, Technology Project Manager at Halter Ranch, when asked about her experience working with a hybrid team. “We utilize multiple tools to help provide an easy remote work environment that all of us can collaborate within despite the distance and time zone differences.”
Many of the new members based in Latin America agree that the organization and communication, both internally and with partners, made this transition period incredibly smooth. “I’ve had nothing but good experiences with everyone and everything related to Remedy and Wave Neuroscience. Our meetings are well organized and direct; the team members are helpful, kind and receptive; and lastly, every work-related system is managed in an effective and organized manner, through the use of Harvest, Bamboo, Slack, Jira, etc,” Eric shared his excitement around working with our partners. Isabel also noted that she’s reassured by the abundance of respect she’s observed between team members.
We are delighted by the engineering quality and passion for healthtech, wellness, and fintech in our new office. We can’t wait to continue growing this part of our Remedy network.
In the future, Remedy plans to expand to other regions, so we can be available to our community 24/7.
